Up from the depths, forty stories high! Just no Godzookie, thank f*ck! The big G is back with some more friends on the small screen. Apple TV’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was far better than anyone expected, and after that cliffhanger, it was always going to return.
Yesterday’s Apple TV Press Day saw the cast have a panel and unveil the official full trailer for the upcoming second season.
Set in the same Monsterverse as Godzilla and Kong, season two will pick up with the fate of Monarch – and the world – hanging in the balance after the events of last season.
Buried secrets will reunite heroes and villains on Kong’s Skull Island, where a new, mysterious village is located that is linked to a mythical Titan. The ripple effects of the past will make waves in the present day.
The second season will feature both Kong and Godzilla while introducing a new Titan X.
Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm all return.
Second season guest stars include Takehiro Hira, Amber Midthunder, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper, and Camilo Jiménez Varón.
Chris Black serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Andrew Colville, Lawrence Trilling, Hiro Matsuoka, and Takemasa Arita.
The first episode of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 arrives on Friday, February 27th, before weekly releases.
At the event, Apple also confirmed multiple series set within the Monsterverse are in development, one being an untitled prequel with Wyatt Russell reprising his role as Colonel Lee Shaw.
