The upcoming live-action “God of War” TV series have cast the key roles of both a disembodied head and two blacksmith dwarf brothers.
Scottish actor Alastair Duncan will play Mimir, the first actor to reprise his role from the 2018 reboot game and its 2022 follow-up “God of War Ragnarok”.
Duncan will recur as Mimir, a character who spends most of his time as a detached head attached to the waist of Kratos to offer advice, comic relief and suggestions in the game.
In the TV series, he’s dubbed a “cheery fellow from Celtic lands” and “self-described ‘Smartest Man in the World’” who was banished forever to confinement in the trunk of a tree by Odin (Mandy Pitinkin) and seeks atonement for the horrible deeds he did under Odin’s orders.
Also joining in recurring roles are Jeff Gulka (“The X-Files”) and Danny Woodburn (“The Witcher”) as brothers Sindri and Grok, weapon-forging blacksmiths who provide comic relief to Kratos.
They join Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, and Ryan Hurst leading as Kratos with pre-production underway in Vancouver ahead of filming in March. Two seasons have already been ordered.
