
Oscar winner, Bond girl, John Wick foil, X-Man, total smoke show. Now Halle Berry is to add US President to her resume. She will play President Joanna Duncan in a film adaptation of Bill Clinton and James Patterson’s The President Is Missing.
It is based on the 2018 best selling novel, and Berry and Holly Jeter’s HalleHolly company is behind the project. It is set up at Apple Original Films and RK Films.
The original novel features a male president, so they are swapping that up in this adaptation.
It follows the threat of a terrorist attack on the USA that could return the nation to the dark ages.
Only the President can stop it, but in order to do it she must escape the White House and elude her own Secret Service detail.
Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and David Chasteen (CIA) have written the screenplay from the novel.
The report in Deadline Outlines a whole slate of projects coming from the production company across TV and movies the Liz Garbuis-directed Sunburn and the adaptation of Cathy Byrd’s memoir The Boy Who Knew Too Much.
The TV slate includes the menopause-themed murder solving comedy Zero F***s for Peacock from writers Liz Kruger and Carolyn Townsend.
