Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s much-anticipated sci-fi feature “Project Hail Mary” is reportedly set to clock in at quite a lengthy runtime – 166 minutes (2hrs, 46mins) according to Yosemite Cinema (via World of Reel).

That’s about on par with Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two,” Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” and David Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”.

It’s also not too far off the 169 minute runtime of Nolan’s “Interstellar,” and more than twenty minutes longer than the previous Andy Weir novel adaptation – the Ridley Scott-directed “The Martian” which clocked in at 142 minutes.

Only three Hollywood films were over 160 minutes in 2025 – “Avatar: Fire and Ash” at 195 mins, “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” at 170 mins and “One Battle After Another” at 162 mins.

The Ryan Gosling-led film, which came in at a budget of over $150 million, has drawn rave reviews from the very few insiders who’ve seen it so far. The title marks “The Lego Movie” and “21 Jump Street” directors Lord and Miller’s first time helming in eight years and first theatrically released directorial effort since 2014’s “22 Jump Street”.

The pair have mostly been heavily involved in producing the “Spider-Verse” films in recent years. “Project Hail Mary” is set to hit cinemas on March 20th.
