Marvel Studios has released four “Avengers: Doomsday” character-centric teasers in recent weeks, each focusing on different characters.
With the last of the four having premiered online, the film’s directors Joe and Anthony Russo have hinted that these aren’t mere teaser trailers – they contain more. They say on Instagram:
“What you’ve been watching for the last four weeks… are not teasers. Or trailers. They are stories. They are clues… Pay attention. #DoomsdayHasBegun”
Theories are swirling as fans dissect the teasers, with many suggesting certain elements were digitally removed (ala the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” trailers), while others suggest these teasers were specifically filmed for this and aren’t part of the final film.
Others are trying to decipher the codes that pop up between the film’s release date and countdown clock in the last moments of each teaser.
Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Patrick Stewart’s Professor Charles X. Xavier, Ian McKellen’s Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, James Marsden’s Scott Summers/Cyclops, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, Winston Duke’s M’Baku, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/The Thing all appear in the clips.
“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to release on December 18th 2026.
