Blumhouse and Warner Bros. Pictures have premiered the teaser trailer for “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” which opens in cinemas on April 17th.

In the film, the young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace – eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.

Scenes in the trailer involve a mummy inside a tomb being photographed as something crawls out of its mouth. There’s also some screaming faces and what looks like a scorpion.

The film made headlines on the weekend with an apparent report emerging of a test screening in which a scene involving a scorpion and some vocal chords was described in disturbing detail.

Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, Verónica Falcón, May Calamawy, May Elghety, Natalie Grace, Shylo Molina, Billie Roy, and Hayat Kamille star.

Cronin (“Evil Dead Rise”) directs the film, which he calls “one part Poltergeist and one part Seven” and a very different kind of mummy movie – one with no relation to Universal’s “The Mummy” franchise.

“Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” will release in cinemas on April 17th 2026.
