A November 6th 2026 release date has been set for “Godzilla Minus Zero,” the sequel to Toho’s highly acclaimed and internationally successful “Godzilla Minus One”.
The title was announced at Godzilla Fest in Japan with the original film’s writer/director and VFX whiz Takashi Yamazaki returning in the same capacities.
Yamazaki’s company Shirogumi, which handled the first film’s Oscar-winning visual effects, are back again for this.
2023’s “Godzilla Minus One,” the second of the live-action Reiwa era movies after 2016’s “Shin Godzilla,” took place in devastated post-WW2 Japan as the country is hit by a new wave of devastation unleashed by Godzilla.
It grossed $116 milion from a $15 million budget, was the highest-grossing live-action film to debut in Japan during 2023, became the third highest-grossing non-English-language film in the U.S. market, and boasted stellar review scores from critics and audiences.
