Well, Stranger Things is over. However, it seems fans can’t simply let it go. God bless the internet and the way it brings people together… and then whips them up into a frenzy. Outposters, welcome to Conformity Gate.
This is the theory that a secret episode of Stranger Things had been created and would be released on Wednesday. Fans went hysterical. It was like Jesus had returned and was bringing Santa with him.
Then Wednesday came and went… and nothing happened.
Netflix also confirmed, in their episode listing, that “All episodes are now online” but has this stopped them? Has it fuck!
Online groups are still insisting that the 18 months time jump part of the finale was an illusion created by Vecna. So committed were they to the bit, that Netflix even suffered outages as fans piled online to see the new, secret episode be unveiled.
Vice now reports that the gambling app Polymarket had received over $14 million in bets that a new episode would drop yesterday.
Unlucky.
