It’s the beginning of 2026, so we’re asking the question, what are you looking forward to this year? And you can’t just say ‘nothing’, anyone who does will be banned from the site; you, and your children, and your children’s children…for 3 months. No, we won’t ban anyone, as there must be something you’re looking forward to.
So far, there are a lot of big movies coming out in 2026, so let’s go over a few of them. I’ve looked around a few sites for titles, and some of them I don’t recognise.
January
28 Years Later was split into two movies, with the first being enjoyed by some, hated by others. Nia DaCosta is directing the sequel, and not Danny Boyle. It will be out later this Jan 2026.
Other movies listed for Jan are We Bury the Dead, Primate, Greenland 2: Migration, The RIP, and Send Help.
February
Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, based on Emily Brontë’s classic story, will be in theatres. It stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, who was the creature in GDT’s Frankenstein.
Other movies for February release are Scream 7, GOAT, Crime 101, and I Can Only Imagine 2.
March
Speaking of GDT’s Frankenstein, in March 2026, we have Maggie Gyllenhaal’s version, Bride of Frankenstein. It looks like a very different take on the story, more of a steampunk version, starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale.
Other movies for March are Project Hail Mary, Hoppers, Youngblood, and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.
April
Following the success of the 2023 movie, The Super Mario Bros, a sequel is planned for April 2026. Reprising their roles will be Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black and Charlie Day.
Also in April are Michael, the biopic of Michael Jackson, The Drama, The Mummy, and Apex. The Mummy isn’t the new Brendan Fraser version; it’s another remake.
May
For May, the two big movies due out are The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Mandalorian and Grogu. I rewatched Mando Seasons 1 and 2 recently, and I did enjoy them, but after Season 3, which was the Bo-Katan Show, I’ve given up hope. I will be waiting for the streaming of Mando.
Then for May is Animal Farm and Mortal Kombat II.
June
This sees the big movie from Steven Spielberg, Disclosure Day. The response to the trailer wasn’t the best, but will it see Spielberg back on form? The movie stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Eve Hewson, and Colin Firth.
The other big movies for the summer will be Toy Story 5 and Supergirl. Yes, James Gunn is going up against Spielberg, which will make for interesting numbers.
Also in June 2026 will be Masters of the Universe and Scary Movie 6.
July
They are going all guns blazing for July 2026, with the big movies being Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Moana. There’s no point in telling you about these movies; you already know everything about them.
Also in July is Minions 3 and Evil Dead Burn.
August
I can’t lie, this is something I’m looking forward to, Coyote vs. Acme. After all the hassle they had, with the movie almost being canned, we will finally get to see it. I’m hoping it’ll be worth the wait.
More movies for August 2026 are One Night Only, Super Troopers 3, Insidious: The Bleeding World, Dog Stars, and the Cliffhanger remake.
September
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back in Practical Magic 2. This is a full 28 years after the original movie.
There will also be How to Rob a Bank and Clayface.
October
Tom Cruise is going to be the Digger. Cruise will team up with the director of Birdman and The Revenant for a “comedy of catastrophic proportions”.
Also, there will be Terrifier 4. I have to say, I gave up on these on the third one. I’m all for a bit of over-the-top blood, but the third Terrifier was beyond anything I wanted to see.
The other movies for October 2026 are The Social Reckoning and The Other Mommy. I know Jessica is in The Other Mommy, so I might check it out.
November
We will see Nick Cage and Christian Bale team up in Madden, which is something about American Football, sorry, Hand Egg.
Just before Christmas, Ti West’s Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol will be in theatres, starring Jonny Depp.
Then there is another sequel, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Man, I didn’t know they were still going.
We also have Greta Gerwig’s Narnia and Focker-in-Law.
December
There are a couple of smaller movies for December 2026, something called Dune 3 and Avengers: Doomsday. Dune, I will check out, as it carries on the story past the 1984 version, and I haven’t read the books. I’m kind of excited about that.
The other bigger movie will be Robert Eggers’ Werwulf. Although Egger’s is becoming a little hit and miss, here’s hoping it will be good.
To finish off 2026, there is another Jumanji movie and Angry Birds 3.
Indie Movies
What was great about last year was all of the indie movies we got to see. Two of my top ten movies of 2025 were indie movies. They came out of nowhere and were just awesome. No budget, no spoilers, just damn good movies.
The other good thing about indie movies is that you just know nothing about them; they come out of left field, a passion project for the director and are usually a nice surprise. We’ve also been invited to a set visit by a friend of the Last Movie Outpost, Nathan Shepka.
Anyway, what are you looking forward to in 2026?
