Marvel alum Sebastian Stan, who has played Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier for years now in the MCU, is reportedly in talks to join Matt Reeves’ “The Batman Part II” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
If he signs, he will join Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Scarlett Johansson, Colin Farrell returning as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
Barry Keoghan is expected to return as the Joker in some capacity. Filming is slated to get underway sometime in May at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London and in Glasgow, Scotland, ahead of a release in October 2027.
Specifics of his role are unknown. Stan is coming off an acclaimed performance in “The Apprentice” and “Thunderbolts*”. He recently filmed “Fjord” and “Avengers: Doomsday” with “Burning Rainbow Farm” also on the way.
“The Batman Part II” isn’t officially part of the newly relaunched DCU, but it is still being developed under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios banner. DC Studios has both “Supergirl” and “Clayface” next year, along with “Man of Tomorrow” and “The Batman: Part II” in 2027.
The original “The Batman” was released in 2022 and made over $770 million at the box office.
