“Any day now!” Any finally be “Today!” Soon, and then a thousand internet commentators can say “We told you so!” without a shred of self-awareness. Kathleen Kennedy’s replacements at Lucasfilm could be about to be named.
According to reports over at Puck News, Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan are reportedly set to replace Kennedy as the new co-presidents.
The announcement will be made by Disney in the next few weeks, and when Kennedy steps down, the new leadership will follow the model from DC Studios, with James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Like at DC, there will be a split between the creative side and the business side with Filoni taking on the Gunn-type role and covering the creative work.
This will span film, television, and other media, while Brennan will handle the business and operational side of the company.
Filoni is Lucasfilm’s Chief Creative Officer right now, with Brennan as the current president and general manager of Lucasfilm Business.
Reports say Kennedy’s publicist is preparing her “farewell tour”.
Fans would consider the tenure mixed, at best. Bankers and shareholders will think otherwise for the box office results and the numbers for shows like The Mandalorian.
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny notwithstanding.
