The Muppets continue their several attempts at revival within the clutches of Disney. MuppetVision 3-D may have departed from The Magic Kingdom, but The Muppet Show is back. Now, a second teaser has dropped for this latest attempt.
The iconic TV series, an American cultural touchstone, weirdly brought to life by the support of British TV heavyweight Sir Lew Grade, is returning in something like its original form for a one-off (at the moment) special.
This will air on February 4th on Disney+ and ABC, bringing back Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the whole gang. Expect music, comedy, and chaos. Alex Timbers directs the special, whose very special guest star will be pint-sized pop princess Sabrina Carpenter.
Veteran Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel will perform the majority of characters in this production. Carpenter, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, Michael Steinbach, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Vogel, and Eric Jacobson executive produce.
The 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show will be on September 5th this year.
