2025 has not been a good year for movies. In fact, it’s been one of the worst movie years for a while. There have been a few good movies, but overall, it’s been a disaster. Trying to find a good movie in 2025 was like trying to find a good-looking lesbian in real life.
So, dear Outposters, here are some considerations for the worst movie of 2025. I’m writing most of this from memory, as I’m not sitting through any of these movies again, not even for you lot.
There is no order to these; this is a random list of the worst of 2025.
Star Trek: Section 31
Like with most franchises these days, Star Trek has been beaten, kicked in the head, dragged outside, and shot over and over. I’ve not kept up with what’s going on with Star Trek, but I thought Section 31 would be standalone.
It was standalone, as far as I know; it has nothing to do with the rest of Star Trek. You had Michelle Yeoh as the bad guy, who ends up saving the day. I honestly couldn’t tell you much about the story, as it was back in Jan. You can see our review here.
Snow White and the Seven Abominations
Yes, I watched Snow White, and it was not just bad, it was probably my worst of 2025. What was funny was the April Fools review we did; I’m still proud of that.
Snow White cost $300 million to make, and you don’t see a single penny of it on the screen. You had a Mary Sue Snow White. Gal Gadot was embarrassed to be there. And the seven ‘dwarves’ were nightmare fuel.
G20
You know what’s dead in 2025? Girl bosses. This didn’t stop G20, though; it made a girl boss out of the 60-year-old Viola Davis. Yes, she played the ex-military first female POC president. Need I go on?
You had Homelander as the stupidest bad guy in movie history, trying to gain crypto money from the political leaders or something. However, it was the terrible stuntman who had to pretend to get beaten up by Davis that was the worst.
The Stranger: Chapter 2
The first of The Stranger movies was bad. Laugh out loud bad. You had a couple in a cabin, suffering the worst atrocities known to man…yes, the guy was stabbed once in the gut and left to die. That’s worse than crucifixion.
They had made the decision to make three of these movies and this second one, which came out in 2025, was instantly forgettable. I have seen it and couldn’t tell you a thing about it now. And there’s a third one on the way.
War Of The Worlds
You know who the best actor in the world is in 2025? Ice Cube, how that man hasn’t won an Oscar is beyond me. His performance in War of the Worlds is one of the best ac… no, I can’t say it, not even as a joke.
This movie was not just bad, it was beyond terrible. It all focused on Ice Cube looking at a screen. His hacking skills are pretty much ‘type what I need’, and it’s all done. All of this was produced under the guise of H.G. Wells’ name.
Bride Hard
I did see this, but couldn’t be bothered to write a review; it was that bad. Basically, it was Pitch Perfect, as it had Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp in it, but with guns. Of course, Wilson is a John McClain, but more girl bossy.
This was just bad, from start to finish, there are no laughs, no real action, and just embarrassing.
I Know What You Did Last Summer
Talk about a completely and utterly pointless remake for 2025. This was again, instantly forgettable, and ‘somehow’ made Freddie Prinze Jr., from the first one, the bad guy. This new version was made for the modern audience and was nothing more than a crappy remake for money.
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle
See above for why.
How to Train Your Dragon
Again, see above.
Red Sonja
Once again, see above. Another pointless remake.
The Naked Gun
Yet again, Naked Gun was a movie that didn’t need a remake, and Liam Neeson was not the right person to make it. He was just embarrassing.
Hurry Up Tomorrow
This was an advert for The Weekend. Yes, I have no idea who “The Weekend” was either, but he’s a ‘musician’. In the movie, he’s tied to a bed and forced to listen to his own music. This breaks him, and he sings his way to freedom. Pretentious garbage.
Flight Risk
Mark Wahlberg managed to get himself captured on a plane by the two stupidest people on the planet. This was the big return for Mel Gibson as a director, but it was terrible.
Cleaner
Daisy Ridley, continuing the girl boss theme, does Die Hard. Apart from the fact that she spends most of the movie outside the building, gets in about the hour mark, and girl bosses her way to the win.
The Astronaut
I nearly forgot this off the list, but again, what a terrible movie. A woman goes to space, comes back, chased by aliens, who turn out to be her family. She was left on Earth years earlier and raised as a human. As the movie went on, it just got worse and worse, with every horror cliche in the book. By the end, it was laughably bad, and the third act took nose dive even from there.
And The Rest
Looking through some other lists for the worst of 2025, there are a lot of titles that come up, but movies I haven’t seen or just couldn’t be bothered to list.
Elio is one that was mentioned a lot. I had heard of it but never saw it. I gave up on Pixar a few movies back. From what I understand, Elio was about an 11-year-old who is hinted at being gay. Oddly, not many of the bigger outlets have mentioned Elio in their worst movie list, mainly because they are too afraid to.
Regretting You was bad, according to a lot of people. Love Hurts with Short Round was again instantly forgettable.
The Electric State kept popping up, but I thought it was mildly entertaining. But then I remember it cost over $350 million to make.
The Fountain of Youth was mentioned a lot, but I didn’t think it was one of the worst of 2025. I remember it being entertaining.
One Battle After Another was in my worst list; it was overly political, overly female-centric, and there wasn’t a likable character in the movie.
I’m also, for the sake of ratio, saying that Sinners wasn’t one of the worst of 2025, but it was completed mid. I know everyone dug it, but the more I think about it, the more it was just stupid. There were massive plot holes, and everyone liked it because it’s Ryan Coogler.
Alarum with Sly Stallone and Shadow Force were mentioned a lot, but I’ve never heard of either of them.
That about wraps up the worst of 2025; there is a lot to pick from. What was your worst of the year?
