Back when “IT: Chapter Two” came out in 2019, filmmaker Andy Muschietti briefly discussed the idea of an extended ‘supercut’ of both the “IT” movies.

That cut would not only bring the films together but also include unseen deleted scenes from both and even, possibly, new scenes that hadn’t been filmed at the time, with a final runtime being around the 6.5-hour mark.

That longer cut didn’t happen. Now, six years later, we got the prequel TV series “IT: Welcome to Derry,” which comes to a close tonight and which has proven even darker and more vicious than the films.

Participating in a recent Reddit AMA, Muschietti revealed that the supercut is still something he hopes to get around to: “Still a big dream of mine. Since we’ve been involved heavily in this show, we haven’t had time to execute it. Crossing fingers.”

One deleted scene that would likely appear references the celestial turtle known as Maturin and is set in the flooded basement with James McAvoy’s character. The mostly underwater sequence was cut for pacing reasons.

The second last episode of “IT: Welcome to Derry” pulled in 5.8 million viewers across HBO and HBO Max in its first three days, its best numbers yet, and is averaging 10.7 million viewers per episode to date.
