James Gunn teased Supergirl at the end of James Gunn’s Superman by James Gunn. At the end of the movie, she turned up, drunk, having missed all the action. Well, Supergirl is back with her own movie, and there is now a trailer online.
At the moment of writing, I have no idea what it looks like, so I hope it’s good.
Supergirl stars Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, Emily Beecham, Will Coban, Alice Hewkin, David Krumholtz, and Jason Momoa as Lobo. Wasn’t Momoa Aquaman? Is he and Lobo the same person?
Craig Gillespie is directing; he is known for Lars and the Real Girl, Fright Night (2011), I, Tonya, Cruella, and some of the episodes of Pam & Tommy. Ana Nogueira writes the screenplay, based on the comic by Tom King, Otto Binder and Al Plastino, created the character.
The story for Supergirl, at the moment, is:
It follows Kara Zor-El’s story and her darker origin before she finally made her way to Earth.
Jams Gunn has had a say, you know, it’s Gunn, he said, about this new movie:
“…we see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he’s an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life”.
He said it indicated that this incarnation is an Argo City survivor, rather than being from Krypton itself. This was more akin to her comic book debut in 1959.
Supergirl will be in theatres on the 26th of June 2026.
