Got a spare half a million dollars burning a hole in your pocket? Well good news. Propstore are about to auction off two legendary props from Jaws.
No, not Ben Gardner’s head. Even better. Quint’s W.W. Greener Harpoon Rifle Mark II (complete with case and accessories) and Fenwick fishing rod will go under the hammer in March 2026.
The props have been meticulously screen matched to prove their authenticity, as shown in the video below:
The harpoon rifle is expected to fetch $250,000 to $500,000. For those of you on a budget, the fishing rod is estimated at a mere $150,000.
I have a sneaking suspicion they will go higher. Both items are integral to the movie, appear in multiple shots and are key items in Quint’s shark hunting inventory.
Also, these props aren’t really props. That’s a real harpoon gun and fishing rod. Boba Fett’s blaster recently sold for £459,000 ($590,000) but it doesn’t actually fire lasers.
Plus, these items are more than just ‘things in the movie.’ Calling them props is almost an insult. The fishing rod alone is responsible for one of the tensest moments in Jaws, if not all of cinema.
I can still hear the tick.
