Max Parker (‘Boots”) is in talks to play Baldur, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (“Severance”) is being considered for Thor in Amazon Prime Video’s big-budget TV series adaptation of the “God of War” video game series reports DanielRPK.
The series is based on the 2018 semi-reboot and its sequel “God of War Ragnarok” rather than the original games, and follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye.
Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.
Baldur served as the antagonist in the first game, while Thor and Odin were the antagonists of the second. Jeremy Davies (“Justified”) and Ryan Hurst (“Sons of Anarchy”) played the Baldur and Thor roles, respectively, in the games.
Ronald D. Moore (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Outlander”) serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon also executive produce.
Pre-production and further casting for the series are currently underway ahead of filming early next year in Vancouver. Emmy-winning veteran director Frederick E.O. Toye has been set to direct the first two episodes of the series which has already been renewed for a second season.
