Big news yesterday from Gotham City. In another piece of news that nobody saw coming, it emerged that Scarlett Johansson was practically locked for a major role in The Batman: Part II.

Nobody knows what the role is, but the speculation is that she will be a love interest for Bruce Wayne, who isn’t all she seems. The news also came with a twist. It appears that the production was in talks with Emma Stone for the part.

The Begonia star was very interested, but turned the role down eventually over pay. Stone was said to be in line for a massive payday from Marvel for the female lead in The Fantastic Four before that role went to Vanessa Kirby. Stone and her people presumed that the same would be true for The Batman: Part II.

When Stone dropped out, a report on  The InSneider says that Johansson ordered her people to pursue the role aggressively and was willing to take lower pay in return for points.

Hello!

Stone is a double Oscar winner (Poor Things, La La Land) but Johansson might be the bigger star. The Batman: Part II script is said to be fantastic, as it should be after years in the making.

Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell all return. Shooting begins next spring ahead of an October 1st, 2027 release.
