2019’s Ready or Not was a fun, gruesome horror comedy about a game of hide-and-seek that goes off the rails, to put it mildly. It certainly ranks in my top two horror movies featuring brides in their wedding dresses that get progressively messed up over the course of the movie. It’s the female equivalent of Bruce Willis’ vest.
Who wore it better?
Co-Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett went on to make a couple of Scream sequels (I really need to catch up with those), plus Abigail, another decent effort about a vampire girl. Abigail had a similar vibe to Ready or Not, but wasn’t quite as good in my opinion.
Now, six years later, they have returned with a belated sequel to Ready or Not, titled Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. Samara Weaving returns as Grace from the first movie. Kathryn Newton (Freaky, Abigail) co-stars as her sister. Presumably, she wasn’t invited to Grace’s wedding in the first movie. That might come up.

I’m not totally convinced by this. The trailer looks fun, but I get the whiff of a John Wick-style style overly elaborate and unnecessary Universe expansion. What the hell, I’ll still watch it.
Ready Or Not 2: Here I come also stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Frodo Baggins, David Cronenberg, and Kevin Durand. It will be released in April 2026.
