A blessed Sunday to you all, Outposters. It is time to gather in the great hall again, for another Great Debate. Prepare yourselves, brethren, as we debate, argue, and generally act like children in a playground. Name-calling will be allowed.

As we know, prequels, sequels, and all other types of spin-offs and reboots are the latest thing in Hollywood. Now and then, a sequel will work, but most of the time, they don’t. This got me thinking about something for the debate this week.

Sequels I would like to see, but Hollywood would never make. For example, I’m a fan of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I know it’s not everyone’s favourite, but I like it. It’s never had a sequel, which is a good thing.

Although I found myself thinking about what a sequel would be like. I ended up giggling to myself, thinking:

Close Encounters 2 – two hours of seeing Richard Dreyfus’s character being experimented on, probed, and generally desiccated for the alien’s fun.

It would never happen, but I would watch it. Then I got thinking about a debate discussion:

What prequels do you want to see?

How about Pretty Woman 2, where they get married, he becomes an alcoholic, and she turns into Melissa McCarthy? Fight Club 2, where they settle down, get married, and have a young lad called Tyler who starts a fight club at school?

As a caveat to this debate, it tells us how you think a sequel should have gone, but Hollywood would never have done it. Open up, my brothers, and debate.
