Gather fellow Outposters in the great hall, where we can join the mass debate. A meeting for great minds, with weak, overweight bodies. Yes, it’s time for another of the Last Movie Outpost’s Great Debates.
Finding a movie to watch these days is hard work. Every Friday, we give you some suggestions, but endless scrolling through Netflix and other streaming services seems to just swipe left more than you do on Tinder.
As you scroll, you pause on something, then read the description or see who’s in it and think ‘Nope, I’m not watching that!’.
For example, I was scrolling through a list of movies the other day, and something called Queens of the Dead popped up. At first, the title caught my eye, but then I saw the cast. The name Katy O’Brian was there, and I was out!
Then I read the plot for it:
Drag queens and club kids battle zombies craving brains during a zombie outbreak at their drag show in Brooklyn, putting personal conflicts aside to utilize their distinct abilities against the undead threat.
Wow, there was more chance of me going on a romantic date with Kathleen Kennedy than there was of me watching this movie!
For this week’s debate, what actor/actress/director says you aren’t going to watch a movie? What trope in the story means you’re going to stay well away?
What person, or plot outline, means you’re not going to watch a movie?
When you read something like:
A group of people head to the woods for a weekend of fun…
You know it’s going to be exactly the same as every other ‘lost in the woods’ horror story. So join the debate, fellow Outposters, tell us what puts you off watching a movie while browsing.
