When all the talent went on strike and made Hollywood grind to a halt, one of the issues on their list of grievances was the potential rise of AI in the industry.
Fat lot of good it has done them, as the age of the AI actor is now here.
I would have bet on porn first. Everything happens in porn first. But no, this appears to be mainstream. A company called Particle6 has launched the first AI talent creation studio – Xicoia.
CEO Eline Van Der Velden launched Xicoia at the Zurich Film Festival. She states that the focus is to create AI talent for use in film and TV productions, video games, podcasts, YouTube and for other fan interactions.
According to the blurb, Xicoia will create and ”represent” a “new generation of digital stars” via Particle6’s proprietary avatar personality engine – DeepFame.
The company claims it is developing a portfolio of over three dozen emotionally intelligent AI personas that it says have:
“…complete backstories, distinct voices, evolving narrative arcs and fully realised personalities…”
The first character is Tilly Norwood, who has apparently already been launched across several platforms.
Velden has told Deadline that she’s in talks with several Hollywood talent agents who are interested in signing this collection of pixels as if she were a real person.
I am not sure that Vedden, a woman, has thought this through. The single undefeated force in Hollywood, that particularly affects female talent above all others, is “The Wall”.
Vedden is instrumental in creating female talent that is immune to this wall.
This is effectively the Hollywood version of when all the women were out with their placards proclaiming that “Trans rights are human rights!” and then five years later wondering why they are getting the absolute snot kicked out of them in their own sports by mediocre male athletes who chose to self identify.
Consequences are adjacent to accountability in the hierarchy of reality. So when this dawns on them, it will probably somehow be our fault.
Ushering in their own demise via vanity, several Hollywood stars are said to be interested so they can appear on screen as their younger selves.
Now I feel they deserve absolutely everything that is about to happen to them.
