Ever since the new Masters Of The Universe movie was confirmed, the scuttlebutt has been that it will be far, far closer to the 1980s toy line and accompanying cartoon series than any other version of the characters. Good. If you are going to revive it, then revive it properly. None of this standard Hollywood thinking that they know better than the fans and the original creatives.

The mix of Star Wars and sword & sorcery, with clear archetypes and a clear good vs. evil core, wrapped in a big dollop of nostalgia, should be some kind of home run. Then again, this is Hollywood, so any rumors were too good to be true, right?

Well, maybe there is just a little ray of hope. Some images that landed today, snapped sneakily from a trade show, confirm that the look appears to be right on the money.

The Twitter account from a most excellent group of die-hard fans of all things Eternia, He-Mania.com, just shared a pic of a cinema lobby stand that shows Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man riding Battle Cat.

Battle Cat is a huge, armored tiger that serves as the companion of He-Man in battle. When He-Man is in the form of his alter-ego Prince Adam, then Battle Cat is Adam’s pet Eternian tiger Cringer, who is lazy, cowardly, and usually doesn’t even want to assume his heroic form.

The upcoming Masters Of The Universe movie will follow Prince Adam, who returns to his home planet Eternia, to save it from the evil forces of Skeletor, played by Jared Leto. Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Sasheer Zamata, James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley, and Kristen Wiig also star.

Masters of the Universe is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 5, 2026, by Amazon MGM Studios, and internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing International.
