DC Studios co-chief James Gunn only officially announced Man of Tomorrow, the follow-up to this summer’s Superman, last night, and already the rumor mill is in overdrive.

Following a video reveal featuring Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) and an image announcing the release as being set for July 9th, 2027, it was confirmed that Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl are also returning. The rest of the Justice Gang are also expected to appear.

The treatment is complete and the script is advanced, with Gunn directing this follow-up.

As soon as news of the announcement began to spread, Aaron Pierre, who is set to play the Green Lantern John Stewart in HBO’s Lanterns, posted “See you soon” on a post, which was liked by Gunn.

Grant Gustin, who played Barry Allen / The Flash on the CW series, also made a comment, to which Gunn responded, and this has all led to the usual rampant internet speculation that they will both be involved.

Nexus Point News carried a story claiming that Lex and Superman will be forced to form an uneasy alliance during the adventure to face off against a bigger threat. Supergirl (Milly Alcock), Lobo (Jason Momoa), and Peacemaker (John Cena) will all apparently appear.

Man of Tomorrow films next summer.
