28 Years Later was better than expected, well, apart from the last 5 minutes. You can read Wrenage’s review here28 Years Later was always going to be split into two movies, with part two called The Bone Temple. There is a new trailer for the second part.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple stars Ralph Fiennes, Emma Laird, Alfie Williams, Jack O’Connell, Chi Lewis-Parry, Robert Rhodes, Maura Bird, Same Locke, Ghazi Al Ruffai, Natalie Cousteau, and Elliot Benn.

There is still talk that Cillian Murphy will reprise his role from the first movie.

Alex Garland is writing, but Danny Boyle is not directing this sequel. That honour is going to Nia DaCosta, who is known for directing the remake of Candyman (2021) and The Marvels. Yes, part two of 28 Years Later is being directed by the person who directed The Marvels.

The story for The Bone Temple is:

Picking up shortly after the events of 28 Years Later, the sequel follows Spike (Williams) as he is forced to join Sir Jimmy Crystal’s (O’Connell) violent cult, which is on a collision course with Dr. Kelson (Fiennes) and his Alpha virus-carrier Samson (Lewis-Parry).

I can’t say I’m impressed with the groovy kids. It makes you wonder if The Bone Temple will take on a completely different tone. Only time will tell.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will be in theatres on the 16th of January.
