Bryan Singer seemingly had the movie-making world at his feet. After exploding onto the scene with The Usual Suspects, he was one of the founding movers and shakers of the new superhero movie wave with X-Men and X-Men 2.

Then, in 2019, it all went wrong. For years, there were some rumors. An online celebrity newsletter published reports of one movie where he was alleged to have built a “monitor fort” and would direct from inside it via walkie-talkie. Lots of young Filipino go-go boys would join him in there, and there was lots of giggling and other noises from within.

The same outlet reported that he went to a dinner party in the Hollywood Hills and took along a young companion as his +1. Another major Hollywood figure did the same. Halfway through the evening, they decided they both fancied a change and simply swapped boy-toys between main course and dessert.

Over a period, he was accused of more allegations of sexual misconduct, from as far back as 1997. While on the set of Apt Pupil, several teenage boys claimed they were ordered to strip for a shower scene, alleging it was for sexual gratification.

Since then, Singer has had other accusations levelled against him. These include allegations of drugging and sexual assault of underage boys. He also gained a reputation for unprofessional behaviour on set, which led to his being fired from Bohemian Rhapsody. He was also set to direct a Red Sonja reboot, but was eventually dropped.

Eventually, he was accused of drugging a 17-year-old boy at a party on a yacht. Eventually, things were settled, and he faced no criminal charges. Since his career stalled, he has been living in Israel.

Variety now reports that the filmmaker has quietly directed an indie period drama feature starring Jon Voight, set in Lebanon during the occupation. It tells the story of a father and a son, one of whom is an architect looking for redemption.

It was reportedly shot in Greece in 2023, with filmmaker Yariv Horovoitz (Rock the Kasbah) involved.
