Boldly going where absolutely nobody wants Star Trek to go, it is fair to say that Nu-Trek is not landing well with fans. Can Starfleet Academy turn it around?
Based on this evidence, unlikely. This looks like a Gen-Z nightmare. The incompetent, over-feels crew of Star Trek: Discovery dialled up to eleven.
It also seems to have been made by people who have never seen Star Trek before or, if they did, they didn’t really understand it.
Why is there a female Jem’Hadar there? Why is she so fat? Why is everyone so fat in the future? And what the fudge is this?
Set in the 32nd century, the far-future time period that was introduced in Discovery, Starfleet Academy follows the first new class of Starfleet cadets in over a century as they come of age and train to be officers.
Sandro Rosta, Karim Diané, Kerrice Brooks, George Hawkins, and Bella Shepard portray the Starfleet Academy cadets, starring alongside Holly Hunter, Zoë Steiner, Robert Picardo, Tig Notaro, and Oded Fehr. Paul Giamatti will also turn up.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy airs in early 2026.
