Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto has announced on X who will be playing the key roles of Link and Princess Zelda in the upcoming Legend of Zelda live action movie.
British actress Bo Bragason, 21, is Princess Zelda.
Just lighten her hair a bit and we’re good to go
I guess Tom Holland aged out of the role of Link, so they’ve cast Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, 16. He’s also British.
Just lighten his hair and grow out that mop a bit and we’re good to go.
Completed it, mate
I’ve never heard of these actors, but they look the part. Their ages are similar to the characters in the more recent Legend of Zelda instalments – Breath of the Wild and its sequel, Tears of the Kingdom (not to brag, but I’ve completed them, mate). The movie’s story and visual style may draw from those games, but we’ll have to wait and see.
There’s certainly a rich history to choose from. 21 mainline Legend of Zelda games have been released since 1986. Most of them have a similar set-up: evil force takes over the land of Hyrule and captures Zelda while Link saves the day.
Recent games have given Zelda a more active role in proceedings, culminating in the first Zelda-led game, Echoes of Wisdom, released in 2024. Not to brag, but I’ve completed that one too.
Few details about the movie have been released, but I’m willing to bet that Zelda will be more than a damsel in distress.
I must admit that this news has come as a bit of a relief. In recent months, certain corners of the internet have been campaigning for Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer to play Zelda.
Do not be fooled
