While Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, don’t expect him to play well with others.
Following the huge success of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” there’s been obvious speculation that the Merc with the Mouth could end up joining the X-Men or the Avengers at some point.
However, in a recent interview with TIME Magazine, Reynolds says doing that would mark an end to the character: “If Deadpool becomes an Avenger or an X-Man, we’re at the end. That’s wish fulfilment, and you can’t give him that.”
He suggests appearance in a supporting role would be more appropriate for the character. Asked what’s next for the character? Reynolds says: “I’m writing a little something right now, that’s, I don’t know, it’s an ensemble. But, I like that [Deadpool] is isolated.”
The nearly 20-minute interview took place on Wednesday and covers a range of topics, including the failure of “Green Lantern” to which he says: “I learned all the most amazing lessons I could ever have in the creative space from that movie.”
Production is currently underway in the UK on “Avengers: Doomsday”.
