Screenshots confirming a remaster of the famed 2006 Bethesda video game “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” have gone online across social media over the past 24 hours following an apparent leak via the Virtuos website reports VGC.
The images include screenshots comparing the original game to the remaster along with apparent promotional art for the title which is expected to be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at a date expected to be fairly soon (but not announced as yet). The screenshots compare scenes like the outside world upon leaving the tutorial quest, along with the Imperial City and its surroundings.
Resetera first posted the images and indicate Bethesda Dallas and Bethesda Rockville are working on the game alongside Virtuos. The latter is currently supporting Konami’s development of the “Metal Gear Solid 3” remake which is due out in June.
There’s also a deluxe edition version of the new ‘Oblivion’ with extra weapons and horse armour DLC (in a nod to the famed meme).
Along with the obvious visual overhaul, there will be a mechanical overhaul of the game’s systems including a Soulsborne-style blocking system, less frustrating stamina and archery systems, a more aesthetically appealing HUD and more says MP1st.
The original game was released in the early days of the Xbox 360/PS3 era and followed players who aim to thwart a fanatical cult known as the Mythic Dawn, a group planning to open portal gates to a demonic realm known as Oblivion.
Acclaimed at release, two decades on it is still held up as one of the greatest games of its genre.
