A wild new report over at The Insneider indicates that Ryan Gosling will produce a film remake of “Killer Klowns from Outer Space” at Amazon MGM Studios.
The 1988 cult classic sci-fi horror comedy received positive reviews at the time and follows a clan of evil extraterrestrials who resemble clowns.
They arrive on Earth and invade a small Californian town in order to capture, kill and harvest the human inhabitants to drink their blood.
Attempts have been made over the years to either make a sequel or remake the property as a film or TV series, all have stalled over the years. Back in 2023, the original film’s director Stephen Chiodo had hopes for an eight-episode limited series that would end up on the clown planet at one point.
The one successful revival of the property in recent years came in the form of an asymmetrical survival horror video game released last year to mixed/positive reviews.
No further details on the new Ryan Gosling-produced version of “Killer Klowns from Outer Space” are available at this time.
