Yes, really! Well, according to a report at The Insneider. The report says Ryan Gosling will produce a movie remake of Killer Klowns from Outer Space for Amazon MGM Studios. OK, nobody had that on their movie bingo card this morning.
The 1988 original is a cult classic. The sci-fi horror comedy follows the arrival of aliens with some heavy circus-theming who arrive on Earth and invade a small Californian town in order to capture, kill, and harvest the human inhabitants to drink their blood. Despite the ludicrous premise, if received positive reviews and maintains a following to this day.
There have been a few attempts to revive the property over the years. Legacy sequels and even a TV show were discussed. Original director Stephen Chiodo pitched a limited series to streamers in 2023 that didn’t fly.
A video game was released last year that didn’t make much of a splash.
We can only presume that Gosling has fond childhood memories of renting this from his youth, thus proving that Ahmed’s gas station-convenience store-VHS rental emporium is universal and even the Mickey Mouse Club had one.
No further details about Gosling’s Killer Klowns From Outer Space are available at this time, because why would they be?
