“The Batman” and “Mickey 17” star Robert Pattinson is reportedly circling the role of the main villain for Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming “Dune: Messiah” at Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary.

According to THR, the actor is reportedly looking at a role with speculation being it’s the character of the Tleilaxu Face Dancer known as Scytale from Frank Herbert’s books.

According to the trade, no offer has been made to Pattinson, who is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” in a role rumored over the weekend to be that of the Greek Gods herald Hermes (though recent set photos have brought this into question).

Pattinson of course has commitments to Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II” which is aiming to shoot before the end of the year so if he does ‘Messiah’ he’ll have to squeeze the project in between “Odyssey” and “Batman”. “Dune Messiah” is currently on track to film this Summer.

Published in 1969, ‘Messiah’ kicks off events twelve years after those of “Dune” with Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) ruling as Emperor, married to Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh) while maintaining a relationship with his concubine, Chani (Zendaya).

Forces plot against him, including the Bene Tleilax – an arcane, xenophobic sect of genetic manipulators who traffic in biological products. Face Dancers are genetically engineered servants with the ability to mimic any human.

The recent “Dune: Part Two” brought in $714.6 million globally. “Dune: Messiah” is expected to hit cinemas on December 18th 2026.
