Paramount Pictures has premiered the teaser trailer for “The Naked Gun,” a new comedy dubbed “the single most important #NakedGun movie since the other Naked Gun movies.”

Liam Neeson stars in the film as Detective Frank Drebin, with Paul Walter Hauser as his partner Ed. Kevin Durand is set to play the villain while Pamela Anderson and Danny Huston also have major roles. CCH Pounder, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and Eddie Yu co-star.

“Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers” writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand are reuniting with that film’s director Akiva Schaffer on the project.

As shown, the new film is a follow-up to the trio of late 1980s/early 1990s Leslie Nielsen-led comedy films which made over $476 million at the box office. Those films were themselves a reimagining of the short-lived series “Police Squad”.

Neeson and Hauser play the sons of Nielsen and George Kennedy’s characters who just happen to have the same names.

Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing the new film which has set an August 1st 2025 cinema release.
