Jennifer Salke is stepping away from her role as head of Amazon MGM Studios, ostensibly to become a producer with a first-look film and TV deal at the streamer.

The report has spread across the trades following an internal memo from Amazon Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios chief Mike Hopkins. It will bring with it some structure changes with Head of film Courtenay Valenti and Head of TV Vernon Sanders reporting directly to Hopkins alongside Sue Kroll, who will continue to oversee marketing across both film and TV.

Salke’s time at Amazon could be described as mixed. She delivered a string of popular hits for both the studio and the streamer such as Reacher, Fallout, The Boys, and The Terminal List.

For movies, she helped drive projects like Saltburn, The Beekeeper, and Creed III.

However notable failures on her watch included the mega-budget Red One. Also in the negative column was the well-publicized fallout over a theatrical release of Doug Liman’s Road House remake, and the excruciatingly awful, and inexorably expensive, Rings Of Power. Citadel also became one of the most expensive TV shows of all time on her watch.

She was also held to be one of the biggest reasons why James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson couldn’t mesh with Amazon, which significantly delayed one of Amazon’s most valuable IPs from moving forward in any meaningful way.
