Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer for “There Will Be Blood” and “Phantom Thread” director Paul Thomas Anderson’s next feature “One Battle After Another”.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, Shayna McHayle and Alana Haim star in the film which is easily Anderson’s most expensive film to date – coming in at a budget of over $130 million.
The project is a modern-day film adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s “Vineland” which unfolded in Northern California 1984 and dealt with the consequences of the 60s hippie movement in the era of Reaganomics.
Plot specifics of the film adaptation remain under wraps, but going by the trailer it appears DiCaprio plays a washed up ex-revolutionary whose daughter has been taken and he races to rescue her – seeking the help of old colleagues along the way.
The film will open on September 26th with a likely Fall film festival run followed by theatrical release which will include an IMAX component.
Michael Bauman is lensing the film in 35mm VistaVision, while Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood is doing the score.
