riend of the Last Movie Outpost, Nathan Shepka, has a new movie coming out, Death Among the Pines. It’s actually coming out in 2026, but we’re getting an early press release.
Nate has been kind enough to give us an interview, about his movie Baby in the Basket, which is a solid gothic horror. Nate is a British movie maker, who’s got a real passion for movies.
I was going to put the press release for Death Among the Pines, but it’s better coming directly from them.
Death Among the Pines Press Release
Fresh off the release of the gothic horror feature film The Baby in the Basket (out now in the US and UK). Flickering Myth and Shepka Productions have announced that filming has wrapped on their second collaboration, the suspense horror-thriller Death Among the Pines.
With a screenplay from genre veteran screenwriter Tom Jolliffe (Renegades, Cinderella’s Revenge), the film stars Nicolette McKeown (Mercy Falls, Damaged), Nathan Shepka (When Darkness Falls, Dead Before They Wake), Stephen Kerr (The Defender, The Reign of Queen Ginnarra) and Olly Bassi (Dick Dynamite: 1944, Masters of the Air). Nathan Shepka returns to the director’s chair after 2025’s Dead Before They Wake and The Baby in the Basket, while Flickering Myth CEO Gary Collinson produces.
In a remote farmhouse in the Scottish countryside, housewife Angela (McKeown) receives a knock on her door from a damp and dirty stranger (Shepka) claiming to have burst a tyre and seeking refuge from a storm. Angela warily lets him in to seek shelter, but her suspicions are aroused when she learns the local police are conducting a manhunt for an escaped killer. Matters are complicated further when a police officer turns up asking questions, not only about the fugitive, but the whereabouts of Angela’s suspiciously absent husband Eddie (Bassi).
“We are excited to be teaming up with Flickering Myth and Tom Jolliffe again on a tense, tightly wound thriller geared for streaming audiences,” said Nathan Shepka. “The hope was that The Baby in the Basket would be the start of many fruitful collaborations.”
“Flickering Myth is delighted to be turning its focus to our next collaboration with Shepka Productions and Jolliffe Productions,” added Gary Collinson. “We look forward to sharing more details and insight into Death Among the Pines with audiences over the coming months.”
Be A Part of the Movie
Death Among the Pines is now in post-production ahead of an expected release in early 2026. An IndieGogo campaign is currently running to raise finishing funds, offering digital bundles, special thanks credits, producer packages and more CLICK HERE.
Nate told me that he’s not a fan of crowdfunding, but it really does help. I’ve said before, but he makes movies on a budget like £200,000, which sounds like a lot, but compare that to The Electric State, with a budget of $350,000,000, and it puts things in perspective.
I’d much rather watch a movie from a passionate indie movie maker than watch another generic Netflix movie. The Baby in the Basket is available now via Prime Video and Tubi in the US and Prime Video, Apple TV and Sky Store in the UK as well as in stores and on Amazon and HMV on DVD.
