The greatest that never was gets his chance to shine as Warner Bros. Studios and Apple TV releases the official trailer for their upcoming sports drama film titled F1. View trailer below.
Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition—and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
Of course, there is no doubt that I am excited for this movie. Naturally, because it was directed by the same person behind Top Gun: Maverick, I am immediately intrigued by this upcoming feature. Plus, being fan of recent sports racing movies like Ford vs. Ferrari and Gran Turismo, I was instantly hooked on the idea of intense sports drama that centers around Formula One racing. From the preview alone, which shows off more of the story, characters, and action than the previous trailer, the footage shown looks fantastic, an excellent summer blockbuster feeling that has plenty to offer. Naturally, actor Brad Pitt in the leading role, is another great aspect to like this movie as I am sure that he will lend his screen presence in the feature. Overall, I am very much interested to see how F1 plays out and how it will be receive by moviegoers everywhere.
F1 races into theaters on June 27th, 2025
