After a short ‘special look’ teaser trailer back in December, Netflix has premiered the proper nearly two-minute official teaser trailer for its sequel to Adam Sandler’s 1995 cult classic comedy “Happy Gilmore”.
The original film saw Sandler playing a failed hockey player with anger management issues who finds unexpected success on the pro golf tour. The title became a massive home video hit and remains one of Sandler’s signature roles.
Here he returns alongside Julie Bowen as his love interest Virginia Venit, Ben Stiller as Hal, Allen Covert as Otto, Dennis Dugan as Doug Thompson and Christopher McDonald as rival golfer Shooter McGavin.
Joining the fray this time are Nick Swardson, Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Kym Whitley, Margaret Qualley, Scott Mescudi, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Eminem, Becky Lynch, Dan Patrick, Travis Kelce and John Daly.
Kyle Newacheck (“Murder Mystery/”) is directing the film which shot last Fall and is slated to drop on the service on July 25th
The sequel is co-written by Tim Herlihy from the original movie. Dennis Dugan, the first film’s director, executive produces. Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds also produce.
