A new report in Greek media appears to have revealed multiple character roles for the cast of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey”.

Universal Pictures release has yet to confirm which actors are playing what roles in the movie beyond Matt Damon in the lead role of Odysseus.

The film is expected to follow Homer’s poem about the legendary Greek king of Ithaca and his perilous many-year journey to return to his homeland after the Trojan War to reunite with his wife and son.

Photos the other day of Tom Holland on set strongly suggested he’ll be playing Odysseus’ son Telemachus, but beyond that the roles haven’t been clear.

Now, OneMan is reporting that Anne Hathaway will play Odysseus’ wife Penelope.

Next, they say Zendaya will play the Goddess Athena, Charlize Theron is the sorceress Circe, Benny Safdie will play Mycenae’s king Agamemnon and Lupita Nyong’o will play Agamemnon’s wife Clytemnestra.

That’s just a fraction of the cast though with Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth, Samantha Morton, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Corey Hawkins, Bill Irwin, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Nick Tarabay, Jimmy Gonzales, and Maurice Compte, among others also starring.

Additionally, THR is reporting that “Sons of Anarchy” and “The Walking Dead” alum Ryan Hurst has joined the cast.

Filming reportedly began four days ago in the Peloponnese peninsula. Both Messinia and Corinth have been transformed into Hollywood sets by the production team. The script was written by Nolan and produced by him along with his wife, Emma Thomas.

“The Odyssey” is set to open in cinemas next July.
