22-year-old “Stranger Things” and “O’Dessa” star Sadie Sink has joined the cast of Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ “Spider-Man 4” reports Deadline.

It marks the first major new casting on the superhero sequel, with the trade saying her role in the film will be significant but no specifics about it have been revealed.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the new film, taking over for Jon Watts who helmed the first three. Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna penned the screenplay.

Sink has been rumored for several months now to be playing X-Men mutant Jean Grey in the MCU, and that could still be a possibility here.

Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker and Zendaya as MJ, though the latter’s role is expected to be much smaller than past entries as she has other filming commitments such as “Dune: Messiah”. Holland is currently filming Chris Nolan’s “The Odyssey”.

Holland has hinted that the new film is a “little different to anything we’ve done before” and kind of crazy. It is set to take place between the next two “Avengers” entries as well as ahead of the next “X-Men” film which is in development and is believed to be targeting a potential November 2027 release.

Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige are producing “Spider-Man 4” which opens in cinemas on July 31st 2026.
