Place to Be
Oscar winners Ellen Burstyn and Taika Waititi are set to star in “White God” and “Pieces of a Woman” director Kornél Mundruczó’s new film “Place to Be” which is being penned by Kata Wéber.

It follows the unlikely friendship of an elderly woman (Burstyn) and middle-aged man (Waititi) as they travel from Chicago to New York to return a lost racing pigeon home. It will shoot this month at Disney Studios Australia in Sydney. [Source: Deadline]

Joseph Merrick
“Boardwalk Empire” actor Jack Huston has been set to direct a biopic setup at Phoenix Pictures centered on Victorian-era artist Joseph Merrick who is known as The Elephant Man. Huston, Kate Cohen, Mike Medavoy and David Dobkin will produce while Nick Yarborough wrote the script.

The new take offers a “deeply emotional perspective on Merrick’s remarkable life, illuminating the untold story behind the legend” as it explores his final months. David Lynch directed an Oscar-nominated biopic that starred John Hurt in 1980 titled The Elephant Man. [Source: THR]

Superman
In celebration of Superman Day on April 18th, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood is inviting guests to embark on a Superman-themed Studio Tour which will take guests across the historic Warner Bros. 110-acre backlot and offer a look at iconic sets. Ticketholders will get the opportunity to meet legendary DC artists and attend a screening of “Superman” (1978) introduced by TCM host Ben Mankiewicz. [Source: PR Newswire]

Batman
A newly released and fairly costly looking commercial from insurer State Farm offers a whole new take on Batman with Jason Bateman as a cut rate version of the Caped Crusader. Also starring are Grammy-winning artist SZA as Catwoman and Jordan Howlett as Commissioner Gordon along with new takes on The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, and Poison Ivy.
