Between “Andor,” “The Last of Us,” “Daredevil: Born Again,” and “Reacher” among others, the Spring TV schedule is already jam-packed. Now comes the return of another highly acclaimed and Emmy-winning genre show which was one of the best things on TV in 2023.

Peacock has confirmed the second season of filmmaker Rian Johnson’s throwback mystery-of-the-week series “Poker Face,” starring Natasha Lyonne, will launch on the streamer in the Spring.

Lyonne stars as Charlie Cale, a woman who has an innate ability to detect lies, and she encounters strange crimes and mysterious deaths that she can’t help but try to solve whilst also on the run.

Like “Columbo,” this isn’t a whodunnit as it’s made clear early on who is behind the murder – the joy is watching how Charlie figures it out. Visually the new season adopts a 1970s American cinema aesthetic pioneered by the likes of Altman, Bogdanovich and Cassavettes.

The new run clocks in at twelve episodes, two more than the first season’s ten-episode length. As Lyonne is the only permanent character with each episode effectively standalone, the guest list is quite extensive.

Season 2 includes: Awkwafina, John Cho, Sherry Cola, Cynthia Erivo, Giancarlo Esposito, Davionte ‘GaTa’ Ganter, Patti Harrison, Corey Hawkins, Gaby Hoffmann, Katie Holmes, Carol Kane, David Krumholtz, Melanie Lynskey, Margo Martindale, John Mulaney, Kumail Nanjiani, B.J. Novak, Ego Nwodim, Haley Joel Osment, Simon Rex, Sam Richardson, Jason Ritter, Alia Shawkat, Cliff ‘Method Man’ Smith and Justin Theroux.

Further guests will be named later, but several photos from the new run have been released and can be seen below. The first season sat high on may Top TV lists for the year, the show pulling in a 98% (8.4/10) on Rotten Tomatoes and an 84/100 on Metacritic.

Tony Tost (“The Terror,” “Longmire”) takes over as showrunner for season two, replacing Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. Johnson and Lyonne executive produce with both also serving as writers and directors on the new season. Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Adam Arkin and the Zuckermans also executive produce.
