Netflix held the world premiere of Joe and Anthony Russos’ sci-fi action film “The Electric State” last night – the Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown-led big-budget title releases next month directly on the streamer.

It comes as the directors prepare to direct Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is in full pre-production and will begin filming in a few weeks at the beginning of April. Sets for that film are already well under construction.

Once they’re done with that, the pair will jump almost immediately into “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which is due to be filmed next Summer. Both films are being shot essentially back-to-back in the UK under tight timeframes.

Speaking with Deadline, Joe Russo spoke about the anticipation they have for the shoot:

“It’s all in London, we’re shooting them fairly back-to-back, it’s a lot of work again, we may or may not survive, we’ll see. But we’re very excited about it. We found a way into the story that we think is gonna be challenging for audiences, it’s challenging for us to execute. And it’s really exciting for us, it gets us out of bed to do it… Anybody in the Marvel bag could show up in this movie.”

Separately he also spoke with THR on the red carpet and says some of the creative choices on the project will surprise people:

“I think we’re always looking for new faces because there’s always new stories to tell. I think these movies are going to be a surprise to people — we found a way into the story that’s very exciting to us but we think very radical and I think it’s going to challenge audiences.”

The Russo’s “The Electric State” will premiere on the streamer March 14th with “Avengers: Doomsday” to release in May 2026.
