Amazon MGM Studios is teaming with Safehouse Pictures (“Novocaine,” “Atlas”) to develop a film based on New York Times bestselling author Lincoln Child’s Dr. Jeremy Logan book series.
In the books, Logan is a self-proclaimed enigmatologist, an investigator who works to debunk the paranormal and unexplained using modern science. Jeremy Lott and Cory Goodman are writing the script for the film while Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell are producing.
Six books with the character have been published so far including “Deep Storm,” “Terminal Freeze,” “The Third Gate,” “The Forgotten Room,” “Full Wolf Moon” and “Chrysalis”.
“Deep Storm” deals with an underwater base investigating a lost civilization’s remains as a series of disturbing illnesses emerge in the crew. “Terminal Freeze” sees the uncovering of an enormous prehistoric animal from the Alaskan ice and soon several murders follow.
It’s not clear which, if any book, will serve as the basis for the film. Child is best known for his collaborations with Douglas Preston on the Aloysius Pendergast book series that began with “Relic” (which was loosely adapted to film as 1997’s “The Relic”). Producer Gale Anne Hurd spent over a year trying to develop those books (specifically “The Cabinet of Curiosities”) into a TV series.
Goodman and Lott are currently adapting the comic series “Proof” for FOX and set up the films “Lore” starring Dwayne Johnson at Warner Bros. Pictures and the Bruckeheimer-produced “Hood” at Sony Pictures.
