CBS has handed out a straight-to-series order for “Boston Blue,” a spin-off of its very long-running cop drama series “Blue Bloods”.

Donnie Wahlberg is set to reprise his role of Danny Reagan in the new show, a series being dubbed a ‘universe expansion’.

In the series, Danny leaves New York and takes a position with the Boston police. He finds himself partnered with Detective Lena Peters, the daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.

“Blue Bloods” wrapped a 14-season run on CBS two months ago, the show was one of the network’s most watched dramas for most of its run and a staple on Friday nights.

Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis (“The Blacklist,” “Alert: Missing Persons Unit”) will serve as showrunners and executive produce with Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed.

The series is aiming to premiere in the 2025-26 season, alongside the “Fire Country” spin-off series “Sheriff Country”.
