Former “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner is reportedly set to star in and executive produce the scripted series “Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter” in development at Amazon MGM Studios.
Indie studio Tornante (“BoJack Horseman,” “Undone”) is behind the project, which is a meta-comedy that pokes fun at Lautner’s post-“Twilight” career.
Whereas co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are still regularly appearing in major films, Lautner did a few comedies like Adam Sandler movies and TV shows like “Cuckoo” and “Scream Queens,” but otherwise has vanished from the spotlight.
The series runs with the idea Lautner wasn’t taking a break, rather he “was preparing for his real calling…Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter”.
In the series, Lautner plays himself as “he is drawn into a secret society of werewolf trackers who need his unique expertise. As he navigates his double life – Hollywood actor by day, supernatural warrior by night – Taylor must wrestle with the ultimate irony: fighting the very creatures that made him famous.”
Daisy Gardner (“Single Drunk Female”) serves as the creator and showrunner of the series while Radio Silence’s Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will serve as directors and executive producers.
