Netflix has confirmed a June 27th launch date for the third and likely final season of its acclaimed and popular South Korean thriller series “Squid Game”.

The final run arrives six months after the second season premiered just after Christmas and pulled in 126.2 million views total across 11 days – more than any Netflix series has ever achieved in that amount of time.

As both seasons were shot back to back, the closeness of the release isn’t surprising – creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk previously revealed the second season grew so big they opted to split it in two, resulting in the creation of a third season.

This allowed for the second season to end on a cliffhanger, which will be resolved when the new run premieres.

At a press event on Wednesday, Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria also showed a brief clip from the third season showing players receiving either red or blue balls out of a giant gumball machine to determine teams.

The first season of “Squid Game” remains Netflix’s most popular show in history. The second is fourth overall, and there is still plenty of time before it hits the marker to stop counting – meaning it could well get up to second place.

The release is one of many big ones for Netflix this year, with the final runs of “Stranger Things” and “Cobra Kai” and a second season of “Wednesday”.

‘SQUID GAME’ Season 3 will be released on Netflix on June 27, 2025
