The “Star Wars” universe returns to the big screen with next year’s “The Mandalorian & Grogu” movie, a reworking of the fourth season of “The Mandalorian” into a major theatrical event.

Now some new story details about the film have emerged via Bespin Bulletin which go into more about one of the key character inclusions – Rotta the Hutt played by Jeremy Allen White.

As previously indicated, the character – who appeared as a child in the animated film that launched the “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” series – returns here and is said to be quite buff.

The outlet says the reason for this is that Rotta will be a gladiator in the movie, and will have scars on his face from the fights he’s been involved in over the years.

He’ll also wield a weapon known as a ‘vibroblade/vibrosword,’ the character set to be unlike any Hutt seen in a “Star Wars” live-action project to date.

The Hutt twins, the brother-and-sister Hutts who appeared in “The Book of Boba Fett,” are also looking to make a potential appearance. In that series, they laid claim to Jabba’s territory and attempted to kill Fett. Ultimately, they left and were told Jabba’s Tatooine holdings were promised to the Pyke syndicate.

The new report indicates the two Hutts want to take Rotta out, presumably to shore up their role in what’s left of Jabba’s empire. They hired the film’s main villain, Embo, for the task.

Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) is hired separately by the New Republic to capture Rotta, with speculation being that Sigourney Weaver’s Colonel Bishop is the one to do said hiring.

Jon Favreau directs the film which is currently in post-production ahead of a May 22nd 2026 release.
