David Krumholtz (“Oppenheimer,” “Numbers”) and British actress Emily Beecham (“1899,” “Into the Badlands”) have joined the cast of the “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” film at DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures.

Shooting kicked off this week at Leavesden Studios in the UK with “House of the Dragon” actress Milly Alcock playing Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman. Krumholtz and Beecham will play Supergirl’s parents.

Inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Eisner-nominated 2021 comic book mini-series, that comic sees Supergirl traveling across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog.

Along the way, she meets a young noble and honorable warrior named Ruthye (Eve Ridley) and the two women set out to hunt down a villain.

Matthias Schoenaerts will play said villain, a being named Krem of the Yellow Hills who is a skilled and ruthless swordsman and archer who both killed Ruthye’s father in cold blood and injures Krypto.

Craig Gillespie is directing from a script adapted by playwright Ana Nogueira, and how faithful it will be to the comic is unclear.

Jason Momoa also is due to cameo as alien bounty hunter Lobo. The movie itself opens late 2026.
